I am into action figure collection for the last two years and Marvel Avengers take the top spot in my collection. I love to create dramatic toy photos mostly in a real background. I love photography and I specialize in Toy Photography. I started this novel hobby some ten years back with my diecast scale models car and bikes (check my photo collection here). Now I have access to some cool action from Hasbro I am upping my Toy Photography Game. Today’s theme is around Captain America and his weekend long ride in his Harley Davidson Iron 883.
The bike selected for this toy photography shoot is a 1:12 scale Maisto Harley Davidson Iron 883 and the action figure is a 6inch Captain America. But here us the catch… The action figure for this photo shoot is actually a Captain America’s head sitting on a Starlord action figure by Hasbro. I wanted to do this because most Captain America action figures are in his uniform, which might work on fight sequence but for this casual outing no!
I picked this theme to bring up the weekend mood! The location for this toy photo shoot is my backyard ( as usual ), which is filled with greeneries of all sort. I used two cameras… Nikon D3100 DSLR for those Bokeh style shots and iPhone 8 for those super wide-angle shot like the one above.
Though fun Toy Photography is equally challenging… yes first and foremost the scale of the action and the pros has to match or else they look like toys placed randomly by a kid! And because this shoot was done under natural light finding a perfect spot is not a big of a deal. Only catch is this Maisto Harley Davidson Iron 883… though they both are 1:12 scale the Maisto’s scaling was a bit off so our Captain America action figure look off proposition in certain angles so avoided them all together.
Though this Harley Davidson is slightly on a smaller side, I cannot resist the feel to put him on top of it and shoot few shot. The shot came out good but the scaling difference is slightly visible because Harleys are massive in general. Wide-angle shot done with the iPhone 8 gave it bit of different perception and love it.
Overall I loved this toy photo shoot activity and obsoletely love the output! The face swap also worked like I expected and added a lot of flair to the theme. Starlord’s brown jacket work well enhancing the road trip schema, what you say? I had fun playing with these two legends and having a rockin weekend… Wish you all have a wonderfull weekend too. Ciao.
