Visiting a Toy Store is fun, especially if there is a sale as good as 50% off on all products. Yeah today Hamleys trowed in surprise celebration sale for opening 75 stores in India and I visited the store in Phoenix Market City, Bangalore and had a blast. The sale was not informed upfront like the last time but it reached us collector on time. The sale was for a very limited time (only from 1PM to 6PM today) and the crowd show up was crazy! I have never seen this much crowd in a very long time!
Though the crowd was massive and crazy, the action figures aisle are almost untouched and in tact! Checkout this Marvel Legends pegs that still has some older stuff from Thanos wave and Lizards wave! Yeah the world famous Fantastic Four Sliver Surfer is still there and there are more to amaze you.
The Transformers toys ranging from RC toys to Miniature kid toys seen some traction and I see a lot of people carrying transformers toys in some form. I even picked my long time favorite Studio Series Blackout and I am trilled to have one in my collection for as less as INR.2249.5!
With this sale Hamleys would have sold off most of its stock and one aisle thats is totally empty is its “Ride Ons”, which I have never seen empty since day one.
I filled my shopping bag with few action figures for and my sister picked a few soft toys and stated my wait for billing! The queue stated almost towards the end of the early large store and the queue is moving really slow, thanks to massive/crazy shopping spree that every single one is carrying in their hand!
After almost one hour and forty five minutes I got closer to the billing counters and saw that the Hamleys employees are working crazily and efficiently to get us moving. I have never seen all these five counters working (mostly one or two) and billing done at this pase! Bravo.
Hamleys ahs even contracted few bouncers (look like bouncers to me) to regulate this crazy inflow of people towards the counters! And once I reached the counters I got my billing done in less than two minutes and I am out with my spoils!
This is one crazy experience for and first of many to come… I have never seen this much people in a toy store ever not here in India at the least. I have to wait 1:45 hrs to save INR.7800(around USD.110) is crazy but I stood there just take in that experience. This is a all new experience and picking four of your favorite action figure is a bonus! Overall its fun and weekend well spend. Till next time… Ciao!
